The Damned Transport

In this fast paced generation of ours, every delay, anything at a slower pace than usual, makes us lose our cool. Something done once in a particular time frame, is now the acceptable time taken for that action, and you can only do it faster, do it any slower and we go into a fit.

I myself am one who suffers the same problem, that inappropriate rage just because something is slower than usual, be it my internet, the metro train, the bus driver, the auto driver or simply a traffic jam. I forget the marvel of technology that has helped develop all these amazing facilities in our city in the first place. I forget how much worse or slower life was before all these comforts. Travelling to Connaught Place from Noida by bus would be a tremendous effort and would take mental preparation. Even by personal vehicles, before the flyovers and toll roads, it would be quite a task. Now, the road systems have improved so much, that it takes about half the time than it used to about 8-10 years back. The metro rail system, spread across NCR has made it possible for me to travel to areas like Vasant Kunj or Dwarka from Noida, every single day and back in comfort of air conditioning and less worry and sometimes even less time than road.

Yet, I forget all of that, because I am now accustomed to a certain pace in my life. And if there is ever any breakdown or hindrance in this system, that slows it down, even if just by 5 minutes, which happens usually when I am in a hurry, an irritating coincidence of situations, I enter rage mode and have nothing but abuses for the system. An out-of-place thrashing for the train driver or metro officials comes to mind, but lucklily never acted on, or similarly for the other people in a taffic jam who seem to be driving leisurely costing me those precious seconds, or the bus driver stalling at the stop while the conductor fills it to the brim, or even the autowaala who drives too lazily. But as soon as all is in motion again, the rage disappears as quickly as it came.

Now, on further thought, perhaps its not so much the delay that infuriates me, as much as the lack of information shared by those causing the delay. A reassuring message, allbeit a lie, that states a figure of time before services return to normal pace, would keep us calm, an estimate figure, something, anything to look forward to.

It would be much more helpful rather than getting angry at anyone who might be responsible for the delay in our schedule, not knowing why it occured or what caused it, all I know is, I'm late for class, and its because of the damned transport.
