New Segment of Life : Bringing Y'all Up To Date
Heyo!!
It's been soooo long since I shared my life, its upsets and my rage-rants! Well, I'm just gonna bring you guys up to speed with a quick(but possibly long) review of my first seven months of 2015.
Well, it's easy to sum up the first four months. I finally got a set of wheels for my own personal use. Its the family's oldest car, 9 going on 10 years, the Hyundai Accent 1.6! It rides low, it got new brakes and new set of tires, a new stereo(to be upgraded with time). Its a petrol drive, but with a CNG fitting to get mileage in city driving. This was the start of my new year, followed by travelling to college and riding with friends I didn't expect to ride with.
Soon after(like 2 weeks later), I got to be an intern at the office of my desires, Ogilvy & Mather. This was the Delhi NCR office, located in Gurgaon, so that nightmare was realized. The daily travel was a little less painful thanks to the fact that the building was right in front of the metro station, but I had my dark days. Over there, I got my first experience to work in the field of my choice aka Advertising. Unexpectedly I am in client servicing. Yea, people hired me to be in a people-interaction based part of a communication industry. I guess it'll be some years before we find out just how bad or good that decision was. So, learned a lot, got praise and scoldings for good and bad work respectively. I was really lucky I was on a team with good people with varying personalities across the Accounts team and the Creative team. Of course it helped that I met two wonderful people while I was there. The first of which is a pretty lady by the name of Pallak, who was unlike anything I expected her to be when I first saw her. She was stationed at the desk right next to mine, and before long, I was tagging along with her whenever I had time from my work. In fact, it became an inside joke, that if I ain't working on something, it'd be a safe bet to find me where Pallak would be. Besides the work, she'll be the highlight of my time there. The second person, was a sweet surprise and a common connection of another college bud of mine. Her name is Gaby, and to describe her, I would say she was like a ferero-rocher. I only knew her briefly, but in that time, I saw the sweet, the funny, the nutty, and the serious side of this delightful person. She was there just as an intern, and I hope to meet her again in the field some day. While I'm name dropping, sure shout out to my supervisor and immediate boss at O&M, Adrish. I'll say this, it was a lotta fun working with him. So, yea that took up the next 3 and half months of 2015.
Come May, I had to end my dream internship. It was time for the finals, and I had little time to complete my projects and henceforth study for the theory papers. Of course, with the help of skill, caffeinated drinks and panic, I got through all of it. That leads us up to the month of June.
June, exams over, college done with, half my classmates planning for studying for their post-grads, and the other half talking about job searching. I decided to give myself some time before getting into the rat race. That led to a short but epic adventure with my friends Baba and Hema. Inspired by the movie "World's End", we decided to do a pub crawl. Location was CP, Delhi, 15+ pubs counted for, target 10, a pint of lager in each. We managed 5, with some added pints at the last one(Happy hours!). It was decided that such an adventure shall be attempted again, with more time, and we will cross the 10-pint mark for sure!
Following those few days of freedom, I entered into the dimension of Job Searching, an ongoing time of anxiety and stress for slackers like me. Again, fortune favored me and I got to give interviews at a variety of top ad agencies(no outside or domestic help taken to set those up mind you), and all went well. In the end I chose to join the agency I thought to be best suited for me to start my work life, and so here I am, today, a Client Servicing Trainee at JWT Delhi.
Of course, I've left out a lotta details for privacy and or laziness purposes. If anyone reading this feels left out, its for those reasons only, so don't feel unappreciated, and gimme a buzz, a'ight?
Well, that's it for today, more rants coming your way soon, stay tuned and feel free to drop a comment. Thanks!
