Sane Bike Loony Rider Ep 9 : A Really Dirty Ride

Aaallllriighty then!! I have NOT been riding for quite some time now, for a variety of reasons ranging from illness to laziness. But this morning I finally went for a cool early morning off-road ride with the group again. There were a total of 11 riders and a few new faces which always adds to the experience.

We went to our favorite-nearby off-road trail, the one near the Gunjur plantations & farms. We loaded up all the bikes in the cars and headed off. Most of the guys had rented off-road cycles for the ride and boy did that come in handy for them. Oh, and for the record, the cycle used by one of the riders, a variant of the brand Mongoose, a total beast!

Its been about 2 months since I last went on that trail, and the weather has been a bit...rainy, as it should be in this city at this time of year. What I didn't know was that this was also the time when those farmers till the land for the next batch of crops. So, that meant the trail we used to ride, instead of flat hard ground, was now mushy well-tilled farm land that was impossible for me to ride on or even stand on without sinking into it. That meant I spent a significant amount of time trudging through the muddy fields instead of riding through them. Our cycles had mud and dirt in so many places, you'd think we had dragged them through the fields like ragdolls. Even our tyres were caked in it. As a result, we were kicking up a lot of mud from both tyres, meaning nobody could ride right behind each other without getting peppered by dried mud.

Not to say that there were no smooth parts to the ride where I could rip it up and do some fast paced riding and jumping up and down the trails and the tarmac stretches. Of course, the cute lil trees and saplings had grown thanks to the rain, so there were a lot of times where I'd yell "Oh crap!" and ride/smash headfirst through the leaves and small branches with the tall grass scratching up my legs. Good way to test out my new helmet though.

The ride was pretty fun, a proper off road experience and rough riding. Even though it was short, the trudging was tiring but with good company and great weather, it was another good experience with my riding group.

That's it for today's ride, hope you liked reading it. Stay tuned, share, comment and subscribe for latest posts from the loon. Thanks!
