The Colaba Diaries: Ep 6 - Work, Movies and Guinness

It's been a really busy set of weeks. Busy working, busy socialising, busy having fun, busy...being busy.  I can't even remember what I was doing the day after I put up the last post. I went for a movie on Friday night I think, Jackie, then the rest of the Saturday was spent writing stuff for my auto blog (which I really should catch up on again). Sunday too, nothing that I'd write about here as such. The March issue for the magazine I work for came out, work carried on as usual in the couple of days that followed, no incidents or Mumbai adventures as such. And then things happened.

First off, updating on the living conditions, there are now three cunts living here which as you can imagine has simply made it even more stressful. Of course, at the time of writing this ep, one of the cunts is out of town and will be till the next weekend, so a bit of relief there.

Then, I went out for a day of shooting, in a support role for a story for next month's issue. Uhm, things didn't go as planned for the shoot, so in the end I wasn't needed as such, but it was a day of work nonetheless, being out in the field with the cars, learning. Went to a new place for the first time, got to drive a bit in some small hatchback cars, explored a new place called 19 degree north near Lonavala which was pretty cool. Yeah, that was a pretty cool Thursday.

The day after, wasn't so good for me at work, had some difficulties to overcome. But the evening made up for it because hey hey hey, my good friend JV was in town for work and we met up to over dinner. For once, she took charge and decided on where to eat and the timings too, so that was a good change of pace. We went to a new place near Juhu-Andheri, on her colleague's reference and had a pretty interesting meal of seafood and local dishes. Shoutout to the Gajalee restaurant there, for the tasty food and super polite service. After which we kinda decided to walk around, talk, grab some ice cream before finally heading back to call it a night.

The next day, JV was still in the city to hang out with me instead of rushing back to Delhi, so we went to the awesome place I had found with Aarzoo, called Aleph, near the Prithvi Theatre. Over there, we just kinda sat down and talked a lot, about life as adults, about work and about silly stuff too. I treated myself to some super yummy waffles which were topped with nutella and strawberries, which I'll admit, made me make weird noises while eating it. So yeah, had a really good afternoon there, and major thanks to the guy running the joint, Kishan (hope I'm spelling it right) for a good time, and being an awesome host who really knows how to make people feel at home at his awesome cafe. Yeah, from there, JV had to make a beeline for the airport so we said farewell until next time and I headed back to my room, which was an unnecessarily long and painful taxi ride (don't take share UBER unless you really need to save money).

Sunday was a decent day too, I decided to head out to watch Logan, which left me in a mood to have a nice solitary beer, so I made for the nearest Beer Cafe and enjoyed a cool pint of Erdinger, dunkel of course. From the guys at the bar, I came to know of a place nearby, where I may finally get to enjoy a beer that is surprisingly difficult to get a hold of in this country. A beer name splendidly famous in the world of lager, and while not everyone likes it, everyone respects it (if that makes sense). I'm talking about Guinness. Armed with new hope, I found this place called the Irish House, and as soon as I sat my ass down at the bar, I saw it, in the fridge on the top shelf, and I smiled. I looked at the barman and said the magic phrase, "One Guinness please". And I'll tell you what guys. As I took my first gulp of this dark, slightly foamy, lager...I felt at peace. It had lived up to the hype, the anticipation, and now I was finally having it. In this city of strange and unfamiliar, I found something new yet longed for, and it was gooood.

Well readers, I have decided to end this ep of the series here, as the week that followed was insanely hectic and surprisingly eventful, and would be better suited to have its own EP.  With that, I hope you enjoyed this ep of Colaba Diaries and I urge you to share your feedback and thoughts in the comments or on mail and to subscribe to get the latest updates from the Loon. The next ep will be up shortly so stay tuned!
